Today, we’re taking a major step toward that vision by acquiring Curious Refuge, the premier AI film school, and bringing them into the Promise family.
Since 2020, Curious Refuge has been dedicated to helping artists explore the creative potential of Generative AI. As a film school, it has built a supportive environment where emerging and established creators can develop new skills and embrace AI filmmaking in a way that feels accessible and exciting rather than intimidating. To date, over 4000 people from 171 countries have taken part in Curious Refuge classes and joined their creative community. Generative AI is not a replacement for artists—it’s a tool to amplify human creativity, and ensuring it is used in ways that respect and enhance the craft of storytelling is at the core of this partnership.
Now, as part of Promise, Curious Refuge will expand its mission, deepen its industry connections, and create more opportunities for the creators it supports. More than developing groundbreaking content, we’re committed to building a talent pipeline that serves both Promise and the entertainment industry at large. Our hope is to build a bridge for this new wave of talent—giving them greater visibility, training, and pathways toward professional projects that showcase the full potential of this new era. In other words, this isn’t just about learning—it’s about opening doors for the next generation of filmmakers and ensuring they have the resources, training, and access needed to thrive.
